I’m finding this to be very disappointing, the deal has passed the medical phase, I really hope they did their due diligence and he is actually healthy. I would like to see the Red Sox prioritize a 2nd SP but with the departure of Teel, suddenly backup Catcher feels like a priority as well. But the next 2yrs of Crochet should be inexpensive, still plenty of money to go sign Burnes, McCann, Santander even Bregman if they’d like.

Just seems incredibly risky. Maybe extend and only let him pitch 100 innings. Hopefully there's more spending on pitching.
I think with the acquisition of Carlos Narvaez to compete with Seby Zavala & Nathan Hickey for the backup Catcher role along with the additions of Chapman & Crochet, Breslow & the Red Sox off season heavy work is done. I think now they sit back and wait for possible unexpected opportunities to open up and tinker with the edges of the roster. Nothing has changed in Boston except for the name plate on the door of the PBO’s office. 😞

Dont worry about the cost for Crochet. Didn't give up any of the top 3 prospects and still have cash to spend. Great deal for both sides.
