Brewers are cutting costs. Someone is getting shipped out, and money lies on Burnes over Woody. The Rangers will swing for the fences for a big-time TORP. This is a trade as even for both parties as you can get.

Brewers can't take a chance on 5 maybes for Burnes and throw away 2023 and possibly beyond. There isn't enough pitching in the deal for the Brewers because the Rangers don't have what Milwaukee would want in return. Leiter is probably the best they have and he has control problems he needs to solve before he gets to the big leagues. If the Brewers were going to tank and do a complete rebuild they may go for this, however they aren't.

LOL. 5 maybes?? You must be new to prospect rankings. If the Brewers get offered the Rangers #2, 5, 7, & 9th best prospects along with a major league ready bat for second base knowing Wong is walking they do it. As for the Rangers not having what Milwaukee wants, the Rangers have arguably a top3 farm system and major-league talent they can give, so that makes no sense. The Brewers owner literally just said they will have to get creative because they aren't spending money.

You must be new to budget constrained, small market baseball. It doesn't matter what the prospect rankings are if they don't fill a need for a small market team not looking to tank and do a complete rebuild (which Milwaukee isn't). Burnes is their major trade chip and they have to fill holes when they trade him if they have any hope to compete for a playoff spot in 2023. This package makes them worse because it doesn't help them at any position and they lose a very TOR SP. The loss of Burnes far out weighs anything they are getting back. When the Brewers trade Burnes they'll need at least one pretty decent MLB ready pitcher coming back because they don't have any MLB ready pitching coming up. As I noted Leiter has major control concerns and won't help when Milwaukee needs it the most. They are planning on putting Urias or possibly Turang, their own #5 ranked, major lg. ready bat at 2B, so Duran doesn't do anything for them. Acuna hit .224/.302 at AA and is a not needed. Harris hasn't even seen AAA yet. I like Foscue, but he too isn't going to be of any help next year and needs to see AAA pitching.

You obviously didn't read what I commented back. They have 6 starters for 2023, you take Burnes away and they still have 5. In my hypothetical trade, Leiter is a valuable prospect, and acting like he isn't is bizarre. As for the additional pieces, Adames has only 2 years of control left, Wong is a FA now, and the Brewers have no middle infield depth in the upper minor leagues worth their salt, even remotely. Duran, Fosuce, and Acuna handle this NEED by themselves, so thus that solves a need. Turang is terrible defensively at 2B and has begun to play more CF in 2022 at AAA. As for your other comments, the fact you gave Acuna hitting what he did at AA tells me all I need to know. Cheers, go bother someone else with your bizarre takes.

Interesting comments and some heated opinions. I'm going to put on my Captain Obvious hat now and say I'm sure both of these Front Office's would be taking both your opinions to heart. Texas would be thinking they may be giving up too many good prospects for one player. Is it worth it. Milwaukee's front office is thinking these are some high rated prospects but when and can they help the major league roster. A lot of research with scouts and minor league managers and coaches would be consulted. Personally, I don't think either one of you are right or wrong. It's just a matter of perspective and valid considerations before a trade can be made. I can imagine those arguments being made in the front offices of both teams. Also, BrewRage's comment is a reasonable adjustment that Milwaukee's front office would probably like to pursue.
