I can't believe the Phils would do this, but the Cards should leap at it. Walker's a $36M waste of a uni, but Painter makes it all worth while.

Yeah i’m not sure how on board the Phillies would be with this trade proposal. This is how I would sell the deal. First off, you’re intaking about the same amount in payroll while massively improving the roster. Both players being acquired are a fit for next season & to retain beyond that. Erick Fedde nicely rounds out the rotation & he has a long established relationship with Bryce Harper. Ryan Helsley becomes the closer & his Hells Bells entrance fits perfectly for Philadelphia. Andrew Painter is certainly a tough piece to part with, the reason why I think he is somewhat expendable is that he hasn’t pitched since 2022.
