I think the Brewers say yes very quickly, especially with the addition of Urshela. This would free up Urias for a trade or as a super utility guy.

While I understand the benefits on both Arraez is not getting traded especially after winning the AL batting title.

Spikes

You're probably right. I guess it depends how bad they want Woodruff. They do have other players that can cover the positions that Arraez plays but if I'm Minnesota I'd probably hold on to Arraez also.

Eliminate Urshela & Hiura and I think you might have something. Arraez has been playing mostly 1B and the Twins would still have Urshela for 3B & Miranda for 1B. Plus the Brewers would have 5 years of Ober along with Arraez who can play 1B, 2B, 3B, LF and DH. If the Twins were to do the trade & also sign Correa & Abreu I think they’d be in real good shape for a playoff run. If at least 1 of the Brewers young outfielders came up and produced as hyped & they were able to get some production from the Catcher position & ownership quit crying poverty and supplemented the team with a signing of J.D Martinez for 2 years I think they’d be in good shape as well.

Agreed, drop hiura and Urshela but also swap Polanco in for Arraez, they’ve got the same value. I don’t the Arraez is getting traded anytime soon

Spikes

Thank you for your idea. Polanco doesn't have the same value as Arraez has for the Brewers. Milwaukee has a similar player to Polanco in Luis Urias, but Urias has a lot of experience at 3B. Milwaukee would prefer Arraez because of his batting average and ability to play multiple positions. Of course, it's for those same reasons that the Twins want to keep Arraez and that makes sense. As I've said elsewhere, the Twins would really have to want Woodruff bad if they are willing to include Arraez in this trade. From what I've heard so far, Twins fans would be reluctant to make the trade. What if the Brewers add Renfroe?

Spikes

If this trade would go through, I don't think the Brewers would have a need for J.D. Martinez. Between Yelich, Tellez, and Arraez the DH position would be covered. With the Wong signing the Brewers need for Urshela is much less. Between Wong, Arraez, Urias and Turang, 2B and 3B should be covered. The Brewers would still need to improve starting pitching depth. I like Ober for a 4th or 5th starter in 2023 and hopefully becomes a top-rated pitcher in his remaining contract years. You make some good points with the Twins. As with most trades we propose, this trade with your adjustments will look better for both teams if future deals support them.

My thought is that J.D would offer protection for the OF in case of a Yelich injury or under performance from a rookie OF. Good to have for a contender. Doesn’t have to be JD but a veteran bat that can fill in in the OF might be a good move.

Spikes

If the Brewers keep Tyronne Taylor, they already have that veteran OF for back-up. JD was only a DH last year so I don't think he could be counted on to play OF for any extended time. JD' s bat still may be a nice addition but at what price point? I think it's advantageous for a team to rotate different regulars in the DH role as needed.

Spikes

This proposal is the result of different ideas proposed from myself and others. Milwaukee receives Arraez who can play multiple positions. His OBP and hitting average is the type of player the Brewers need at the top of their order. They also receive Ober who would compete for a starting rotation job and Urshela who would be a good fit for 3B. Minnesota gets the top of rotation pitcher they need in Woodruff. They also obtain Hiura who can play 1B, 2B, leftfield and DH. He hasn't gotten the results that he had in his rookie year, but he did show improvement this season by hitting 14 home runs in only 234 AB's. There is still more upside possible.
