Why for Twins: New yearly $ AAV (27.5) for Trevino (3.5), Schmidt (5.5) & Stroman (18.5) almost matches the amount going out (28)-Buxton (15), Vazquez (10) & Jax (3). But they get off of Buxton’s longer term contract. So after 2025 a net savings of 45 AAV. Walker Jenkins is looking good for that OF. They also have issues w/the Bally situation. Upgrade at C with Trevino plus solid end of rotation swing man piece in Warren. Jax is a loss, but he is 29 years old. And of all the talk of converting him to SP-Schmidt actually is a proven MLB SP and is a year younger. Why for Yankees-Yes Buxton is super injured, but his upside is great. A great defensive OF in assuming that Soto leaves. 2025 AAV stays the same. Use Soto money on a SP to replace Schmidt. Vazquez only is a 1 yr deal (Navarez can come up eventually). Jax is a much needed swing and miss guy for the bullpen.
