1https://calltothepen.com/2022/10/30/3-players-baltimore-orioles-target-offseason/ I sent this trade to the board before referencing this article. Now that Orioles are back to relevancy, they need to build on their successful 2022 campaign. Odor is not the answer at 2nd and they appear to need a stop gap there until Connor Norby is ready for 2024. I love Kolten and his D but the Brewers are going to have to make some tough choices if they intend to keep Burnes and/or Woodruff. Freddy Peralta gives the O's a controllable top of the rotation starter they seek. The only reason he is #3 on the Brewers is because Burnes and Woodruff are above him. He's at least a #2 in most any other pitching staff around the league. Freddy would be sorely missed by the Brewers but, they need some position players and some hitting along with salary relief for our cheap owner. Gasser, the key piece to the Hader trade, is on the way and the Brewers would still have Houser, Lauer, Ashby, and possibly Small. That softens the blow of losing Freddy. Alexander provides the O's with an additional piece for their rotation. They need it. The Brewers wouldn't need to rush Hall. Mayo could potentially play 3rd but could shift to 1B if necessary. I see Westburg as a 2nd baseman. Since the O's future rests with Holliday, they don't need him. They also have two up the middle prospects in Hernaiz and Ortiz. This is a fair trade for both teams and helps the Orioles take the next step to continue to invigorate a fan base that has long suffered.
