I don't think this trade is as outlandish or crazy as it appears at first glance. Arizona has lost a lot of offense to free agency this winter and they might not be able to afford to bring back Walker, Grichuk, or Pederson. Jordan Lawlar, for all his talent and ability (when available), is blocked at his best positions by Suarez, Perdomo, and Marte. They could stick Lawlar in the OF and bump Gurriel to DH but then they're gambling on Lawlar's bat making up for his lack of experience on the grass. Acquiring Rooker and putting him at DH makes up for a lot of the departing offense... I realize Suarez is a FA after the 2025 season but if he plays well Arizona would have the option to QO him and I think he takes that deal. With Tommy Troy in the system, the Diamondbacks could still have an heir apparent at the hot corner. The A's add a potential impact talent at 3B with Barrosa helping with outfield defense.

I think Lawler is a good target trade, wish some Diamondbacks fans would check in on thoughts from the desert 🐍 my gut tells me the Diamondbacks aren’t ready to move on from him.
