6Consolidating the trades from yesterday's BTV article. Arizona agrees to cover 1/3 of Montgomery's contract in exchange to Cam Collier. They also get Seth Brown to try and replace Joc Pederson; Brown is optionable and if he's really not working out they can waive him at minimal cost before the end of Spring Training. Cincinnatti clears Candelario from the books completely without having to include anyone they're penciling in for Opening Day 2025. Jimenez is a borderline non-tender but he has options remaining and could impress enough to stick as a depth arm. The A's are taking on $31 MM in 2025 salary for the potential bounce backs of Montgomery and Candelario while adding a potential mid-rotation arm in Petty. The A's have an organizational problem at 3B and Candelario could patch that hole for two years.
Reds will not move Petty and Collier to clear Candelaria’s salary off the books. Their is not a problem.
I could see the Reds interested in Miller, Bleday, Rooker and Susac. Using Collier, Petty and of course others in a deal. I now they said Rooker will not be dealt. But, we all have seen guys moved after they have been proclaimed “off-limits.”
Do you think they give Candelaria a chance to rebound? Where do they play him?
Tito managed Cleveland when Candelaria played for the Tigers. He should know candelaria’s abilities. The Reds have the cap space for his contract. It is just noise about the Reds wanting to move him. Tito will use him at 3b, 1b and dh. The 1b and 3b positions are up for grabs in Cincy.
OK. Thanks for the info.
