5I like Langeliers as a trade target for the Cubs, but I don’t see including Triantos in the deal, or any deal on this platform until his value rises. He is rated #55 by MLB Pipeline. Yet, his evaluation is 8.9. Interestingly, two infielders, Rainer at #56 is at 13.9 and Johnson, 20 points lower at #75 is rated 13.3. I’m sure the Cubs rate Triantos just as high, if not higher.
Triantos pitched and played infield in high school. He had a 94 mile per hour fastball. He is an outstanding multi-sport athlete, and can do a standing backflip. He has terrific foot speed. Because his bat to ball skills were so great (comparable to Alec Bregman, according to scouts), the Cubs signed him to an overslot contract to keep him from college. They decided he should concentrate on hitting. They started him at third base where he struggled defensively. They switched him to second base and the outfield. Sounds like Morel. Moving him all around the diamond, which is confusing to a young athlete. So, to answer your question, in a long winded fashion, I would say second base. You never know about prospects, but he excels against older competition, which is a really good sign. It means he's competitive. Plus, he's performed. Hit .300 last year with some pop. I think he should have a 55 FV, and 18-22 BTV. He is definitely not some throw-in like I see in most BTV trades. Just my opinion.
So... 2B. Nah.
That's where Pete Rose started. Hah!
Where does Triantos play in the field?
