Evans isn’t the kind of pitcher the Rays are typically interested in because he lacks high end stuff. I don’t think they would have any interest. Plus, Seattle arguably needs Evans a lot more than the Rays, who are probably looking to trade 1-2 pitchers this offseason as is.

I don't see Brandon Lowe being traded for this valuation. The Rays seek out low acquisition statcast darlings. They certainly don't trade 2 years of them for the valuation of a decent middle reliever. BLowe was in the 85th percentile of xwOBA and is extremely affordable. I don't see him being moved for this value.

We will see. From what I can find out online, the Rays earn about $80MM from stadium revenue each year. If they are forced to play at a minor league stadium all year, I would assume they lose more than half of that $80MM (of course they will get some back from revenue sharing). Long story short, I can see them trading Lowe for payroll savings, but only if they get a high quality prospect in return.

Any idea if they have catastrophe insurance? I know very little about it, but was once approached about it. I just have an umbrella insurance on my business, but if something happens to the building and we have to relocate, I don't think I recoup any of the potential profits that are lost. MLB has a hell of a lot of contingency plans. I'd bet there has always been a plan if a team lost it's stadium to a fire/earthquake/terrorist etc. Perhaps it's just the other 29 organizations sharing additional profits? We saw 4 years ago that MLB can turn a profit without selling a single ticket (I assume, because they could have just canceled the season). Maybe the Rays won't be as poor as I previously thought. But either way, BLowe is a top 8 Ray all time, and I hope they don't repeat the Zobrist mistake again. If they can't get a premier prospect, I have zero interest in trading away the best power 2nd baseman to ever play this game.

I have no idea what kind of insurance the Rays have, but we now know the city only had $25 million of coverage on the Trop. They commissioned a study a few years ago that said the Trop was unlikely to suffer more than about $50 million in damages in a hurricane, so they dropped their coverage to $25 million (which combined with their deductible equals $50 million). We still don’t know the full extent of the damages to the Trop but we know they exceed $50 million. Still, it sounds as though the city fears the Rays might sue the city if they don’t make repairs, so maybe we aren’t looking at the worst case scenario of needing to play elsewhere for the next 3 years.

“…best power 2nd baseman to ever play this game.” Ever hear of Jeff Kent?

Brandon Lowe is a much greater power threat than John Kent. Jeff Kent played in The steroid era and has a .210 career ISO. Brandon Lowe plays in the clean era, and has a .239 ISO. Jeff Kents best seasonal was 33 home runs. Lowe's best season is 39 HR. Lowe is the best power hitting second baseman to ever play the game.

When was the so called steroid era? What Devil Rays played then? Were they tainted? What are the inclusive dates of the “clean era?” You are incorrect Kent had 37 HRs in 2002. Kent averaged over 22 HRs per year. Lowe only 18. Were all players tainted that played during the so called “steroid era?”

Just say you don't know what .ISO is so you can stop replying to comments 2 weeks after I make them.

I did not know I could not reply to you. I cannot help myself. Your discourse is so logical and revealing. I had to ask more questions. Did you ever think about writing a book about how every Tampa Bay Ray player is so much better than other players? Maybe that is why Tampa has won so many World Series, oh wait...
