Blockbuster. Cards clear the payroll decks which is painful and get some rebuilding placeholders. Braves take on payroll and roll the dice on injury and age with Arenado and Gray but fill a long term shortstop hole. The Braves would probably move Helsley for prospects. The $10M goes to pay down future Gray obligations, Rockies money travels with Arenado.

Soooooo, 4/11ths of the Cards lineup for 3 relievers & a 3B prospect? If you think the RedSox fans came after Bloom for the Betts deal, watch the torches and pitchforks come out for this one.

The idea for the Cards is to clear current and future payroll obligations. It's not about fielding a 2025 team. As I understand it, the Cards are going heavy rebuild, but also want to cut payroll. I can see where the Cards wouldn't want to include Winn especially but Helsley as well. But that would mean sending a whole lot more cash to get Arenado and Gray moved which are obviously very upside down contracts.
