Gives Rays a SS who has tools and is blocked in Cleveland and a good young rp prospects. Gives Cleveland a bat to replace Naylor as the DH.

ROFL . Not a chance. Rays say no.

They might. They also could take it as they have a tendency to take MIF prospects that have the tools along with a young RHP with pretty good stuff. They took a chance this year with Callabero this year who has less tools than Arias.

You’re drawing the wrong conclusion from the Caballero trade. The Rays were desperate for a SS, with Franco in jail and Walls missing the first half of the season recovering from hip surgery. The Rays never make that trade if either Walls or Franco aren’t unavailable. Arias is a utility infielder. He might be better than Walls or Cabby, but none of them should block Carson Williams, who should be ready by 2026 at the latest.

I'm not drawing conclusions from that trade. I'm drawing conclusions from them moving on from Diaz (cut cost) and need a SS who can play multiple positions and made strides in the second half of the season in TripA with the tools to develop the next 2 years. It's not as outlandish as you think with Diaz being a player they are looking to move.

You’re drawing conclusions from a hypothetical trade you’re proposing? I don’t think it works like that. Look, at the end of the day you’re proposing the Rays trade Diaz, last year’s batting champ and a player as or more productive than P.Alonso but getting paid less than half what Alonso will make next year, for (at best) a stopgap role player. The Rays can get a lot more for Yandy from other teams. This trade ain’t happening.

What do you think the Rays would want for Diaz... A counter Idea would be nice since Diaz would be nice to have in Cleveland on paper...

This isn't a trade proposal but just an idea of what TB would probably be looking for, they already started doing a mini rebuild at the deadline but now with the stadium issue plus losing their broadcast deal they'll probably continue with the tear down with the focus more 2028 now than 2026 so probably no mlb players and more farther off milb players, guys like Robert Arias and Chase Mobley time frame than say a Joey Cantillo. The whole system is a bit weak at OF and after Williams at SS, on a personal note my favorite players i wish they'd target are Chourio, Kayfus Genao, Arias, Humphries, etc, i think the problem is that TB is so similiar to Cleveland that's it might be hard to match up on trades.

I agree with the CC’s big picture. I would add that the Rays added several no bat defensive stud infielders in their deadline trades, so any middle infielder coming over in trade needs to have a bat. They don’t need any more 60-80 wRC+ bats in the infield. They also need catching, which includes MLB ready catching (if a RHB).
