I don't know if the Giants would pursue Gaddis or not. Maybe they would deal Whitman and Whisenhunt to acquire him but... acknowledging the regime change... it's hard for me to see them including their #1 pick from last summer. And I don't see them viewing Freeman as a SS upgrade over Schmitt. For the A's, acquiring Martinez means no Schmitt so you can remove him (and Freeman) from the equation and a smoother fit.

I don’t think the Giants will be making a bullpen arm of this kind of value a priority, SP and position players.
