1I don’t see how this trade makes the Rays better. Horwitz would be a great add but coming at the expense of Yandy means it saves the Rays cash and adds control but doesn’t improve the team on the field. Rays only have 1 catcher and that’s Rortvedt. Trading him for another utility player hurts the team. One of the Rays problems is they have too many bandaid utility players holding down full time positions. Trading the Rays’ young closer (or set-up man) for another utility player hurts the team. This trade would force 3-4 subsequent trades just to get the roster right because of the loss at catcher and addition of 2 more bandaid utility players. It doesn’t work on any level in my opinion, at least for the Rays.
