2Torkelson is atrocious. Aranda is a much better hitter. The Rays can't get Aranda in the lineup though, and with Bob Seymour about to take over the LH DH duties, it won't get any easier for Aranda. So the Rays get one of the best defensive C in the game and hope he hits better next year. He's as good as Rohrvedt defensively, but with a lot higher offensive ceiling.
Alternatively, Rays could trade B.Lowe and Yandy this Winter and then whichever of Aranda, Shenton or B.Seymour breaks out next year gets traded the following year to make room for T.Morgan. Rays need to turn as many AAA/MLB players into further out top prospects as they can given their lack of broadcast deal and no stadium situation. Their window may open again in 2026 but they won’t have the revenue to support non-prearb salaries until 2028.
