4Yes, basically giving away Hendricks, in hopes that the Braves, who look like third team in Wild Card race, will use him and lose. Going into today the Cubs had something like a 4% chance of making the playoffs. Not great odds, but a chance nonetheless. So, the "genius," Craig Counsell, starts Hendricks and his 6.75 ERA against Paul Skenes. Seriously? There's no one better to start the game? How about Killian at AAA? If you don't care about winning the game, why not take a flier on a guy who throws 98, but, alas! Cubs currently, behind 10-5. Winnable game. Unfortunately, Counsell, who makes David Ross look like Connie Mack, will continue to play the same good old boys, like Neris, in the same old roles, unless Jed releases them. With the Brewers atop the Central Division and the Cubs underperforming by anyone's standards, no one looks worse this year than Counsell. He was propped up all those years with Hader and Williams in the bullpen and a smart front office.
Update: Cubs score 11 in last 3 innings and defeat Bucs. Unbelievable. CC lucks out this time. If he starts Hendricks one more game, it is grounds for dismissal. Gross Negligence on the job. Go Cubs go!

LC One of the greatest Cubs victories ever! I can't even think of anything mean to say about Jed Hoyer right now.
