I don't think Mead or Santana have much value, so I view this as the Rays getting a great deal on the probable AL CY winner. The Rays can figure out 2025s rotation this offseason, but for now, it's take advantage of a White Sox team that has a pitcher they want to trade, but buyers who don't want him because htey can't use him in the post season. The Rays shed $15M in salary for 2025 in this deal, and somehow get better without losing any prospects worth a damn.
The only problem is that the Rays will have a team average 85 wRC+ next year.
