A rental Catcher seems like an odd addition for the Red Sox, I wonder if they might of gotten him for his RH bat and if Jansen sees time as a DH, and as a 3rd Catcher on the team it could also provide an opportunity to get Wong some time in the field at 1B, of course one of Wong or McGuire could be on the move I guess

I’m thinking the Red Sox might like the right handed bat of Jansen enough to offer him an extension. This would allow them to continue to get Conner Wong’s bat into the line up regularly and use his athleticism around the field (C, 1B, 2B) once Kyle Teel is up instead of regulating Wong to a back up Cathers role.
Cubs will make a pitch for Jansen. He is from Illinois. He replaces Gomes. Predicting 2 yr. 12-15 mil. contract.

Wong isn't going anywhere. Too valuable to the team and is the starter moving forward. If anyone goes it'll be Reese. Just hasn't hit all year is a worse defender than Jansen so he's likely gone. Wong also doesn't play 1B, so that's not where he'd play. Has played 2B at various points during the year in late innings due to defensive replacements and such.
Wong has played a few games at 1B this year. I'd assume that with the Jansen acquisition he might be playing more there over the next couple of weeks.
Red Sox designated right-hander Chase Anderson and backstop Reese McGuire for assignment. Anderson I’ve been expecting, McGuire I’m surprised they couldn’t find a trade for him.

Yea, well today he got the hit to tie the game then in extra innings he had a passed ball allowing the ghost runner to get to third base, thankfully the Red Sox escaped & got the win. I’m thinking Teel is coming up in September
