1Twins apparently can't add to 2024 payroll. That's fine. Rays take bad contracts for Vasquez and Dobnak off their hands, send them Eflin to add some veteran experience to the top of the rotation, and take back two really good pitching prospects and a decent COF prospect. Sad to say, but Vasquez actually improves the Rays' backup catcher position, which means this trade doesn't hurt the Rays' chances in 2024 (Springs slides into the rotation in place of Eflin and the Rays don't skip a beat).
