6Braxton Ashcraft went on the IL for the 2nd time this season on 7/12, both times has been for undisclosed reasons. He has a... checkered track record for staying healthy. Down vote for the A's.
Sounds pretty precautionary to me: "Class AAA Indianapolis pitcher Braxton Ashcraft is currently on the seven-day injured list with lateral forearm tightness, Todd Tomczyk said. Ashcraft was initially placed on the IL June 28 and was activated on July 6. He made one appearance in which he threw three scoreless innings for the Indians before experiencing recurrent symptoms and being placed back on the IL on July 12. “At that point in time, we opted to learn from the surgeon of record, Dr. Keith Meister, who did his Tommy John in 2021," Tomczyk said. "We got that second opinion. It was confirmed that it was muscle related on the outside of the forearm." Ashcraft, the Pirates' No. 4-ranked prospect, is playing catch on flat ground and Tomczyk said he envisions he'll be back on the mound in seven to 10 days."
Thank you for the update.
The Pirates will not trade Terrmar Johnson. This ranking undervalued him.
Completely understand the concerns with Ashcraft but in fairness to him he's coming off TJ and they've been managing his workload that way.
I get that they need to manage his workload. And if they had listed "Fatigue" as the reason for the IL stint then that would be OK. But a 10 day stint starting June 27 (through July 6) and now another 10 day and counting stint suggests a bigger issue.
