I don’t think the Rays will trade Aroz and Paredes in one trade. That’s just not how they typically operate when trading their biggest stars. Also, with Frasso spending all of 2024 on IL for a shoulder issue (a very scary injury for a pitcher), I don’t think there is any chance the Rays would want him to be part of this trade. So take Frasso and Aroz out of the deal. The rest of the deal is fine if the Rays like Rushing, though I would personally try to consolidate Miller and Heubeck into a higher value player. Heubeck may have a future in the Majors, but Miller doesn’t appear to have a bat (and the Rays already have a couple defense only SS in the system (e.g., A.Santana)). I have my doubts that the Rays will ever trade significant resources for a catcher prospect and $29MM is a lot to spend on a prospect, but there’s no doubt the catcher position is a position of need for the Rays. From the Dodgers standpoint, I’m sure they would love this trade. Aroz would be an asset on and off the field in SoCal, and Paredes’ bat would make any team better. Dodgers would still need to address their pitching separately, particularly if they trade Grove to the Rays.
