I think this trade could possibly work, depending on what the market is for Chapman / if SF would be willing to deal Walker. Chapman would allow the Royals to have a consistent, everyday 3B - (as of late, due to Michael Massey's lingering back injury, he's been play more 2B & they've been platooning multiple options at 3B), Maikel Garcia is good enough defensively to be more than okay at 2B & is probably more of a natural MIF as opposed to 3B. Fitzgerald would be a solid 4th OF/platoon option for a team that's had some inconsistent outfield production and obviously Walker would a huge boost a very struggling KC bullpen. On the flip side - SF would receive Loftin, a young versatile IF with ability to play every position in the INF. He has very solid MiLB #'s and really solid batted ball data, he doesn't chase often, or whiff. I think Loftin can be a quality everyday player with all-star upside if he finds consistent playing time. Will Klein is a flame throwing reliever who's been excellent in AAA this year, but struggled in his one MLB stint this year (he only threw in 5 games), it's apparent his has plenty of tools to be a great backend of the bullpen guy (70 grade Fastball) - but if KC is trying to make immediate upgrades to their pen during this stretch of competitiveness, I'm not sure Klein would be the answer, hence he's still in Omaha. Pratto, a gold glove caliber 1B, and a playable corner OF, is a former first round pick hasn't been able to find consistent playing time, due to the emergence of Vinnie P & weak performances during his MLB stints - but he has plenty of power potential & could benefit from a change of scenery and the opportunity to play more often. Hoffman was someone I added because I think he profiles as an arm the Giants typically like, and could probably be in the Big leagues in September for a team who's "sold," at the deadline and is/will be looking at younger guys at that point in the season. and finally, Ugarte is a DSL lottery ticket - the 17 year old is off to a blistering start in rookie ball, but is obviously plenty of year(s) away. By the BTV system, this trade is accepted. Feel free to chime in & let me know what you think KC & SF fans! (or anyone else who wants to voice some opinion on this hypothetical).
