I don't think the cash is needed since the Mets are paying most of Scherzer's deal. Rangers are 8.5 back in the WC, we'll see if they can catch lightning in a bottle over the next few weeks but it may soon be time to just get something back for him. Padres have always had eyes for Scherzer and could use him in the back of the order.
