I think this is year 3 of me dealing Hoskins to the Rays. This time there are some different reasons. I still think he is a Rays type player. Sees a lot of pitches, can get on base, hit for power, and I think the rays would deploy him better to maximize his value. However, now with KK gone, there is a vocal leader gone and with Choi traded they have an opening at 1st. For the Phillies, they do need some pitching depth. If Yarbrough is not a fit, I think they could easily replace him with another arm in the deal. Hoskins value is much lower now but they could still allocate the resources better into the team. Bohm can work as hard as he wants, but he is a below avg third baseman and better suited at 1st. Bringing back Segura and playing him at third or bringing in Druery would improve the team defensively and provide more consistency offensively. They made it to game 6 of the World Series which is great, but they still finished in 6th and only a game away from missing the playoffs. This is still a flawed roster that needs upgrades and one spot is 1st base.

The Phillies don’t need pitching depth and Yarbrough isn’t good enough to be in the opening day rotation. They have 3 young good MLB ready pitchers as well Falter and Sanchez. Bohm also performed fine at third base in the second half, as well as being good in the postseason. He’s their third baseman, not their first baseman.

"Fine" is not good enough for a team looking to be a perennial contender. He is not a good or even avg defensive third basemen. Due to his range issues, he needs to play deeper at third and gave up too many soft IF hits. He has faulty footwork and turns potential DP into FC. Those don't count as errors, but they have the same effect on a pitcher who needs to throw more pitchers forcing him to come out sooner. Many of his defensive shortcomings are mitigated at 1st and in his limited time he grades out much better there. And any MLB team will tell you they always need pitching depth, and as I said, even if the phillies brass didn't like Yarbrough as a fit, the rays have a number of RP or prospects they might not be able to protect that they would be willing to move for Hoskins leadership and bat.
