1Justin Verlander's option is picked up if he's able to get 140 IP. He's missed some time this season, he's 41, and his team's not winning much. If the publicly-shared projections hold up then he's not on the bubble for that 140 IP. If I'm pro-Astros and the team isn't looking bound for the playoffs by the deadline, I'm gonna ship Verlander to a contender so long as he's not some 6 WAR player and the team's still in the dumpster. My thinking is that my team's better off with that 2025 contract for Verlander be someone else's problem and I'll get fair compensation. Let's see how this trade holds up over the next 3 months. All said, it's a good trade proposal. I like the upside on Forrest Whitley.
