6Miller is exactly what Cubs need. However, Assad's valuation at 8.7 is a joke, imo. Lifetime ERA under 3, 150+ innings of solid work. 95 mph fastball, great off speed stuff and control. WHIP under 1.00 for 2024. He is no throw-in. I guess, because he looks like Elmer Fudd with glasses, the geniuses at FanGraphs have decided he can't pitch.
Down vote for Oakland. I don't believe in Kevin Alcantara. I think the swing and miss is going to make him a flop. The A's should have no interest in Nick Madrigal; he's a stop gap for a team worried about every win. The A's aren't in a place where they're worried about the difference one win can make in the standings.
What would Oakland want for Miller? I think it’s hard to know how to predict A’s trades because they seem to have particular things they want and overlook the value (i.e. Estuery Ruiz for Sean Murphy). From the Cubs side Horton, PCA and Shaw are the only untouchables but I think Miller is exactly who the Cubs should target so I’d love to get your perspectives of it.
The A's want power arms, they're putting more emphasis on contact skills for hitters, and they want the main piece of the return to have AA or better exposure. Are you saying Wicks is available? Because I think Cassie has too much swing & miss to appeal.
I'm not sure how available Wicks would be especially with the pitching staff as beat up as it is right now. But personally I would be ok with a swap of Wicks for Miller. Would Canario be enough of a throw in to get a deal like that through? Or maybe Triantos?
Canario would not be enough as a 2nd piece. No home defensively and the non-Hit tools are average and below.
