9Cleveland would like Blackburn, but no way they give up Genoa in the deal... Mace would be available, but thats not enough to get Blackburn... I can't find a deal that @Grover and I can agree on since their drafting and acquiring philosophies are so far apart...
Down vote for Oakland. Mace doesn't have the Power arm the A's have targeted in recent deals. Genao is a switch hitter and the A's organization has shied away from switch-hitters recently. They like guys who only need to develop one swing. I have a hard time seeing them making a switch-hitting SS the centerpiece of a Blackburn deal.
Free the Comp pick...
You would have to give up way more than Blackburn to get Cleveland to even think about giving up that Comp pick... It may be easier to get Jose Ramirez from them at this point that's how much they want to keep that pick... They have never had the number 1 pick in the draft and they have never had a money pool like this in the draft. They aren't giving it up for a short term player...
I agree it seems they have very different philosophies which I think is why to Guards fans it seems they got so much less than we could have given them for a couple of guys we have been interested in, ie Murphy. Also completely agree the comp pick is not happening for Blackburn, maybe they would include it for Luzardo
I respect Cleveland's position re: the Comp pick! But they still need to offer something shiny to get the A's attention if they want Blackburn. They like power arms, non-switch-hitting bats, and they prefer prospects that have shown at least readiness for AA.
Cleveland and A's value of shiny isn't the same, hence why I see Blackburn ending up somewhere other than Cleveland...
