6Why would the Marlins want Kim the rental if they are trading all their best MLB players????
They also get Merrill from the deal tho
Merrill doesn't get this deal done on his own and adding Kim to the deal makes it WORSE from the Marlins' POV. Not better.
Arraez is cold right now, and adding a gold glove infielder with a young CF means that the Marlins can use Bell-Kim-Anderson-Burger in the infield and Chisholm-Garcia-Merrill in the outfield. They have a decent rotation when there's no injuries so this is fair. Padres can fill their OF (Sanchez DeLaCruz Tatis) and rotation (Cease Musgrove Rogers Darvish Waldron) as well, and just put Bogaerts at short and Arraez at second.
Nope. The Marlins are sunk for 2024-25 without Arraez. If they trade him they are going to want exclusively guys who aren't yet making more than the league minimum in 2025. Stop being such a dumas.
If they really don't want Kim at second, then they can move jazz to second
