5Isn't Frasso hurt? Doesn't really matter because he's destined for the BP anyway and that doesn't interest Cleveland. I'm not interested dealing Arias either because he's going to take the SS job away from Rocchio. He's better defensively and provides a lot more power. His hitting will come around and when it does Cleveland will have one of the better SS in the league. Most importantly, what the hell would Cleveland want/do with Hernandez? This is basically a Dodger fan trying to unload guys they don't want.
I didn't realize Frasso was hurt, I don't love trading Arias either, but I also don't want to hold on to both of them and then have one of them be worth little to nothing. I really wish they would pick the one they believe in and move the other. Hernandez was mostly to add a vet presence who could fill that utility role inexpensively
Then trade Rocchio who has a much lower ceiling and isn't the defensive wizard that Arias is. Ironically, Rocchio's value here much more than Arias' so the smart move would be moving the lesser player that has more trade value. Cleveland already has plenty of "vet presence". They need talent and preferably talent that can hit the ball over the fence with some frequency so they're not dead last by a mile in that department.
I guess it depends which one you prefer which trade option you want, I am personally not a big believer in either of them, but I think Rocchio is more likely to stick around the majors longer personally. Arias concerns me offensively, but he does have pop. What "vet presence" do they have? Hedges? I am talking about someone with lots of playoff experience, a winner who can embrace being on the bench and not be affected by it. Using these young guys as bench guys isn't ideal if you want them to develop.
Based on what? Rocchio is a safer bet to be an average player. What is to be gained of that? They have JRam, Josh Naylor, Hedges, Bieber, Barlow, Gimenez and a few others. That vet presence(Hernandez) won't do a thing for this team if it continues to be one of the least productive offenses in MLB. That's a fact and I've done the research. They need to be able to capitalize on the few mistakes that pitchers in the playoffs make. Right now they're not capable of that and starting Rocchio over Arias is only adding to the problem. This isn't my opinion....it's the reality of MLB right now.
