Mariners go all in for the next few years. Rays swap older talent with lots of young talent and bank $20m a year to lock-in existing pre-arb players. This might make more sense if it included sending Canzone to the Rays to platoon with Ramirez in left, and also sending $ or a decent reliever back to the Mariners.

CCMosley

Zero chance TB accepts that.

I don't like the return for the Rays, and I agree with CC that the Rays aren't selling core members of the team this late in the offseason. For good or bad, both the Rays and Mariners largely have their 2024 teams set at this point. Even if this were a Deadline trade, I don't like the return for the Rays (and the Rays would never trade Eflin and Aroz in a package deal).

If this was more Paredes and Arozarena for that package it makes a lot more sense for the M's.

I don't understand your post. Are you suggesting the Rays trade both Aroz and Paredes to the Mariners for the return in this trade? That would be a huge underpayment by the Mariners for two of the Rays best players.
