9Nope! You can watch Clemmey's value skyrocket by the halfway point this season. He's vastly underrated here because Cleveland doesn't share their scouting reports with the national pundits and ranking systems like Fangraph's. How many high school LHP are hitting triple digits with a fall off the table curve?
OK. Replace with Angel Genoa.
Cleveland wouldn't add him either... They are high on both Humphries and Clemmey plus they really like Genoa... Also Avila has less talent than the arms they have at AA right now that are close to being MLB ready. IF they are going to trade Clemmey or Humphries, it would be an upgrade and Avila is not one... Groome wouldn't even make Cleveland's 40 man roster so he wouldn't even be a target by them because of his command issues...
Did not realize Cleveland’s farm was so deep.
They put a lot into the 21 when it comes to pitching... I mean they drafted 19 pitchers and two of them are in the rotation already. Don't be surprised to see a RP out of nowhere in 24... Cade Smith, Aleman etc... plus they have a few guys coming off of injuries who could contribute as well. They aren't going to trade for a RP unless they are a high leverage one... Also if they were going to trade for a non-high leverage one, it would be from the left side... They won't trade for a right handed one...
I don't know if it's as deep as it is top heavy at the moment. Smith, Aleman, Walters and Burns are all pretty much ready BP arms. Walters was just drafted last year, but he's expected to rocket through the system in the same manner that Cody Allen did. Bottomline, you don't offer anything of value to Cleveland in this deal even if they would consider moving Clemmey(their 2nd round choice last year). They're not going to deal him and certainly not for garbage like this so regardless of Cleveland's system depth this is not a good deal for them. I think you already knew this when you posted it.
Keith Law has the Cleveland system ranked at number 22. Not a lot of prospects ready for the show. Ckemmy and Valera are in the top 20. But Humphries, Genoa and Halprin are not. Avila can go five innings in long relieve or as a starter today. DLS was on Cleveland’s roster last year. Pads are in a roster crunch pitching wise and these two are out of options. I would think SD could take anything reasonable, younger the better.
Cleveland's internal list and the national list have always been two separate things.... Cleveland happens to be pretty bullish on prospects especially those who aren't rule 5 eligible yet. Plus guys like Will Brennan, Steven Kwan, Corey Kluber etc were never even ranked prospects. They have a tendency to make sure the national media knows the least amount possible of their prospects. If you really want to know the prospect rankings closer to real rankings of what Cleveland sees not the national media...
That's one ranking and Law sucks at ranking prospects. I mean terrible. Not a lot ready for the show you say? 7 of their top 10 have either played ML innings, are ready for an opportunity or close. The 3 that aren't are Chourio, Velasquez and Clemmey. All of which will be top 100 prospects before this time next year.
