4Brewers would jump at this, but I don't think the Rays would have much interest.
I don't like this trade for the Rays. Too much risk (Rodriguez) and players that don't fill needs (Mitchell and Peguero). Mitchell and Peguero wouldn't start for the Rays and Rodriquez is on the shelf with TJS (I believe). The Rays can afford to trade Mead and Kelly (who is a RP by the way), but trading Civale without getting a starter in return (either pitcher or some other position) makes no sense. The Rays intend on competing this year. They have their highest ever OD payroll. This trade hurts them in 2024 and quite possibly just makes them worse ... period.

You are correct he will miss 2024, that makes this a poor trade for the Rays (thats on me), but I am thinking maybe a trade involving the Brewers and Rays and including Mead and a catcher. 3 team trade that is.
Totally agree with you there. The Rays and Brewers match well if the Brewers are looking for a solid to elite bat for 1B, DH or 2B. Rays need pitching, catching and then any high upside prospects who are years away.
