11Cleveland for sure says no... Campusano has a nice bat, but he wouldn't make Cleveland's roster as a catcher. He would have to learn to play another position and he has barely played 1B. He's a future DH, not what Cleveland needs...
I don't see Cleveland getting rid of Kwan as easily as you would like them to. Azocar is already 27 years old with two career home runs in 300 or so at bats. He likely is what he is which is a backup outfielder. So, you are trading two outfielders, including our best current outfielder for two backups and Lesko. Boy, your 2024 Guardian outfield would be a treat to watch.
They should because his value is going to dwindle as he continues to hit the ball like a 12 yr old girl. My OF right now would consist of Rodriguez, Brennan(for now), Florial and Laureano and it would outperform your dismal, league worst OF by a wide margin even if they underperform. And yes, I'm trading Valera and Kwan for a big RHH C/DH/1B or whatever other position they can teach him and a top 10 RHSP prospect that isn't far away. Azocar is a longshot and I don't have to have him in the deal as I used him for filler. He isn't worth the conversation to be honest. Has either one of you bothered to take a look at Campusano this spring?
You have made your dislike of Kwan very well known as well as your love for Arias. I don't agree with you, but you are allowed your opinion. I don't get how you can subtract the one proven major league quality outfielder and call the outfield better. Rodriquez, Brennan, Florial, and Laureano are all available right now to add to Kwan, so how they could be better without him is mystifying, but again you are allowed your opinion.
There you go again failing to comprehend and then trying to explain to everyone what I'm saying. I don't have dislike for Kwan. I have dislike for the construction of Cleveland's OF. Kwan does not hit the ball hard and he had a league average OPS+. He is an integral part of your beloved "contact oriented" outfield that has no power and/or production. He can put the bat on the ball, get on base and play very good LF defense. Brennan is a better defender, but that's a different argument. They'd be better off using Kwan's perceived value here and letting Brennan take his spot because the step down from Kwan to Brennan is easily surpassed by the return for Kwan if his value here is accurate. Hell, it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest if Brennan outperformed him. I don't think the league has much interest in him honestly for the same reasons I would deal him, but a team like the Mariners or the Yankees could have some interest. Not very many(if any) teams are interested in a light hitting LFer whose only valuable defense is in a position where offense is preferred over defense. I also don't have a "love" for Arias. What Arias happens to be is blatantly the most talented SS on the roster or in the system. You have to allow him to play himself out of the job and that won't happen quickly since he literally just turned 24 a few days ago. You not recognizing that is the only thing "mystifying" in this conversation. Rocchio isn't even in the same realm as Arias when we're talking potential/ceiling.
You certainly love to put words in other people's mouths. I have stated over and over again that Cleveland biggest need is to add an outfielder with pop. This trade does not do that. All it does is subtract our one proven MLB outfielder and that is what I have a problem with. I just wish you could learn to discuss your ideas without the put downs. I will just put you and your opinions back on ignore. Have a good night.
I don't like the idea of getting rid of our only good OFer
If he's you're only good OFer then your goose is already cooked. The good news is that help is on the way and Kwan's value is high. Get him out of the way and let some of these kids get an opportunity. That doesn't have to happen immediately, but you're running the risk of losing a lot of value if you don't.
You have no idea what you're talking about......again. Cleveland jumps all over this deal. You don't have to have a GG to be a valuable player. Campusano is fine as a backup C and the bat is good enough to play anywhere so the idea is that he and Bo can help keep each other healthy while improving Cleveland's dismal offense. Azocar is intriguing and had a good initial showing. He's like an advanced DDLS in a sense with a little less power, but a better hit tool. He's also an actual OFer. Lesko goes right into Cleveland's top 5 prospects and looks to be a rotation stud within 2 yrs. You know, about the time McKenzie will need to be dealt as he approaches FA.
Lesko is fine and Campusano is fine as a DH... Cleveland likes defensive catchers and Campusano isn't one and wouldn't make the roster as a catcher. They spend 4 million to get Hedges for that specific reason, plus he is a team captain. I am not basing things off of how I would do things but how the Guardians do things. Carlos Santana and Victor Martinez are two bat first Cs that they had and sincerely Santana did 4 seasons as the catcher. Campusano is in a similar boat since his catching skills aren't good enough to stay at catcher in Cleveland. I want his bat for sure, but he's not athletic enough to play off of 1B/DH and that's already covered... They aren't going to trade Kwan for him and Lesko, not when he won't have a position in Cleveland...
Everyone likes good defensive catchers Coach, and while he doesn't possess a GG Campusano is acceptable and getting better. He's more than a DH and your statement is ridiculous. Yes, Carlos was our C for 4 seasons and why did he not C a fifth? That's right, it had nothing to do with his catching and everything to do with keeping his bat in the lineup. Actually I don't think neither Shoppach nor Gomes were highly thought of defensively at the time either. I also find it funny that you are totally disregarding the fact that Fry is being groomed to catch more. So who's bat would you rather have?
