Walk me through the logic for this trade from the Rays' perspective. Trading Eflin means the Rays are punting on the 2024 season. Maybe that's ok, because the season looks dicey as is. However, this trade primarily adds a SS on the same timeline as C.Williams (but Lee's lack of elite defense makes him a no-go for the Rays at the SS position). So really, this trade is for a 2B, but do the Rays need another 2B? They have B.Lowe, Paredes, C.Mead, Caminero, Caballero, Basabe, and many others who can play the position. Lee is a good prospect, but Lowe and Paredes are 4 Win players and Mead and Caminero are also elite prospects. If the Rays are punting on the 24 season, I see no reason for why they'd want Kepler. Gonzalez is ok as prospects go, but I personally believe he's overrated. So I think the Rays pass on this trade.
