Mariners send 3 very solid prospects with how power potential which the Guardians could use and a serviceable LF for this year in Canzone for Kwan whose high OBP + Speed game when fit in brilliantly in the 9 spot as a second lead off type player while giving gold glove caliber defense.

BigBat

Kwan is one of the better leadoff hitters and defensive LFers in MLB. This deal is garbage and you know it. Now, do you want to have intelligent conversations about trade ideas or exchange smart ass comments due to ridiculously stupid proposals. I'd prefer the first option. Cleveland already has 6 better options than those that you offer here in Brennan, Valera, Brito, DeLauter and Rodriguez. They also brought on Florial who has plenty of power. I think Seattle could really use Kwan and I'd be willing to deal him, but the return is going to have to be beneficial to Cleveland as well. How about Miller and Ford for Kwan and Freeman? Miller can replace one of Bieber or McKenzie and Ford can help cover Bo Naylor at C and play LF the majority of the time when he's ready.

I didn’t think you’d want Ford because of Naylor’s presence, but Ford + Montes + Canzone would make sense for the Mariners to give up. It would be their #2 and #4 prospects (Montes is set to shot up the prospect rankings if he keeps hitting like he ended last year as an 18 year old), plus a solid player for now. If another player in the 10s is needed, that could probably be included too. The Mariners, however, can’t trade Woo/Miller without making the major league roster worse (adding Kwan is adding 1.5-2 wins to the OF, but Miller/Woo are worth at least 2 wins to the pitching staff, so net even at best) so they have to be off the table completely. Otherwise, if Miller/Woo are on the table, in the scenario we shock everyone and sign Snell, then I think Miller/Woo + Canzone + a flyer like Peete/Smith would be fair. I can’t see a world where the Mariners give up Miller/Woo and any of our top 4 prospects for Kwan.

Yes, this makes sense for the Mariners, but it does not make any sense for the Guardians in my opinion. Cleveland's biggest need is to add offense to their outfield, yet you want them to trade their best current outfielder for a backup outfielder, an 18-year-old that may not be able to stick in the outfield, and 2 more infield prospects where Cleveland already has too many of. You, like other Mariner fans on here, fail to recognize or accept that the Guardians play in a very winnable division.

Mariners fans are all envious that the Guardians play in the worst division in the MLB, but that doesn’t change that this offer would be great value for Kwan. Maybe if you guys are out of the race in June/July, something like this could end up on the table and making sense for both sides (although I wouldn’t be surprised if Montes flies up the top 100 and would get taken off the table).

BigBat

Cleveland isn't likely to be out of the race and they have enough player/prospect currency to make huge additions that help immediately. The actual deep playoff run window starts in 2025 after all their best prospects are ready for MLB. Anything before that is found money. They have the SP, the BP and the young talent to surprise a lot of folks this year. I'd like to see them deal Kwan, Rocchio, Clase, Bieber and McKenzie and absolutely load this team up.

Acketyl, more infielders are not great value for a team that is already overloaded with infielders. Trading an established outfielder for a team needing outfielders is not great value. Your proposal makes the Guardians worse. How is that great value? Locklear is a 3B/1B two positions well covered in Cleveland. I could go on, but you are only concerned with the Mariner's needs.

Tai Peete is young enough to play wherever the Guardians want outside of CF and C, so I wouldn’t focus on him as a SS (he is also a few years away). Locklear as a 1B option would compete with Manzardo as top internal option at 1B going forward, but could also represent an option at DH going forward. Montes is the main asset for the reasons described previously (but won’t be ready until at least 2026). However, if you’d prefer Harry Ford as the main prospect, then we could base a trade around that. As a concept though, the Mariners would only be able to offer a prospect package (otherwise it’s just shifting wins from one part of the team to another which wouldn’t justify the prospect capital). This would only work in the event that the Guardians season slips away early in the year due to a lack of offense and you focus on 2025/2026. The Mariners would similarly be keeping an on the Rays to see if Arrozarena becomes available for the same reason who’d likely be their preferred target because as a team they’ve never valued corner OF defense much.

Locklear does not fill a need and the others are so far away 2026 and beyond. Nothing here makes sense for the Guardians. You know that, yet you continue to argue. Your deal is rejected.

This just doesn't work for Cleveland... It's not like a horrible trade, just not the return they want...
