Brewers continue to go all in with a surprising deal with the CWS. Cease replaces Woodruff and Jimenez slots in as the everyday DH. A line-up of Frelick, Contreras, Yelich, Hoskins, Jimenez, Adames, Turang, Chourio, Arroyo with a staff of Burnes, Cease, Peralta, Miley, Rea and a great BP would be enough to battle the Dodgers/Braves as top WS contenders out of the NL. White Sox get 3 MLB ready prospects with high floors and moderate ceilings. Aquino has shown flashes and is a nice lotto grab to round out the trade.

No way the Brewers would add nearly $17M for a rental DH. They are going to use Contreras (when not catching), Yelich, and Hoskins as their DH to give them a rest during the year. Milwaukee is also losing too many years of control to do this. They could also pickup a SP cheaper than this.

Just like the Brewers wouldn’t add 17M for a rental 1B? Matt Arnold has made it clear, the Brewers are going all in this year. No reason to stop now. Wiemer isn’t needed, Gasser isn’t as needed with the addition of Cease, and Black doesn’t have a true defensive home. Could make him expendable as Wilkins will be ready in 2025

augold: I can't see Milwaukee spending $17M on a rental DH. Jimenez is horrible in the field so he's strictly a DH. Contreras will probably DH in at least 30 games. Hoskins about 30 (could be more) because he's coming off an injury. Depending on Yelich's back I see him getting 20 - 30 games at the DH. That's about half the games (or more) that Jimenez would sit out. He's not worth it. Hoskins may not be a rental. Only time will tell. I like Cease and you may be right about Arnold pursuing him. It depends on what the Brewers think about Ashby and Gasser.

If Hoskins plays up to career numbers, he will certainly be a rental. 4M buyout almost assures that because there is no way he doesn’t get 13M on the open market
