Phillies get rock solid, top notch closer. Also defensive minded SS prospect and second chance power RH bat. Sox get pitching prospects.

👎 Hard pass, I would expect to do much better especially if 2022 1st round pick Mikey Romero is included. But if the Red Sox have a pitcher lined up to sign and are required by ownership to move salary to do so (for no apparent reason other then that they are just plain cheap for someone like Montgomery) I’d be ok with Jansen and cash for McGowan.

I believe some team desperate for a closer is going to overpay for Jansen either before the season or at the trade deadline. I realize that Jansen has a -2.1 surplus value, but he’s still a lockdown closer and post season focused teams often make stupid trades for talented late inning relievers.

Sox picked gem Roman Anthony w/ 79th pick of the ‘22 draft. They should have used their first two picks on pitchers instead of continually loading up on HS SS’s. Now they have more 18-21 yr old SS’s than pitchers in their top 20 prospects. I believe each MLB team needs 13 pitchers and just 1.5 SS’s. I suspect we’re going to see a lot of SP’s drafted over the next few years and some SS prospects traded for pitching.
