Their system is week in pitching. Graceffo would be nice for them I think

BigBat

Uhhhhhhh dude, Cleveland's system is the opposite of "week in pitching". Where did you get that ridiculous idea and when have you ever known Cleveland to be "week in pitching". Now I'm all about improving in all aspects of the roster, but Graceffo is questionable at this point honestly. He's a pretty nice SP prospect, but I wouldn't give Cantillo for him in a one for one and I sure as hell wouldn't part ways with Espino for Graceffo. Gomez is a 25 yr old OF prospect that doesn't hit much above the mendoza line, doesn't play good defense and carries a K rate of almost 35%. You'll simply have to to a bit better than this or Cleveland will just keep Bieber and watch him walk.

Value is fine, but I don't think Gomez will succeed in MLB so that negates the deal... Graceffo is fine, but Cleveland isn't trading Bieber without a proven MLB bat back...

Seems like their system is way deeper on bats than pitching

It's not as weak as you think... Cleveland's FO is notorious in letting outside scouts not watch their practices and whatnot so the only film teams and outside scouts is game film. Fangraphs hasn't been very good at ranking Cleveland prospects at all and this site goes off of that for evaluation. Now, Cleveland is getting Espino back and they have a lot of mid-tier arms with experience at AA so depth, they are actually pretty good when it comes to guys who can eat innings. The problem is they want to compete in the central, which they can do, but they need to find more offense. IF they trade Bieber it will lean towards offense not pitching in the return. This deal doesn't do that...

Seems unlikely that Bieber will net a bat that makes any meaningful difference and costs less than $10m. Aren't they trying to dump salary?

Cleveland is well under the budget the owner gave the GM, but they are planning on using it towards getting guys like Naylor and possibly Kwan extended... They aren't going to salary dump Bieber. They will get the offer they want or keep Bieber and give him the QO if he has a good season... Also Gomez just got DFA'd today, so it's doubtful he would be included in this deal...

I wonder how much the Bally Sports fallout will affect their spending

I think it will effect it some... Essentially I believe it made any non-minimum free agent pretty much off the books for 24 hence why the Quantrill trade to make room for Barlow and Cleveland getting Florial... Now, Cleveland will trade Bieber IF their price is met, which I believe is a solid RH OF player plus a solid pitching prospect... Cardinals don't have that really. I just think it limits them to doing the extensions only and waiting to the trade deadline/next off season to put up an improved bat IF the current guys don't work. Ps. Cleveland went and got Hedges because he was the team captain in 22 and I feel like they missed that in 23... He's more their to be a captain and mentor more than a Catcher I feel like...

The effects are already in place. Financially Cleveland is in a good spot. They just can't spend anymore until they have a structured deal. Can't lay out a budget if you don't know what your income is.
