Sox get ahead line pitching prospect in S-S, get a plug and play #4/#5 in Elder, get two swing SP/LRP (one LH and one RH) that are ready to compete for a ML job and get a longer term bonus baby international prospect that is a ways away. Braves get Cease for a couple and a change of scenery candidate in Kopech (maybe the Braves can hook him up with Strider to learn a little of his game) and some cash to help keep them under the third tier.

I wouldn't want to see the Braves do this. I'm not excited about Michael Kopech as a starter in 2024. For the Braves, I'd rather place my bet on Reynaldo López or Huascar Ynoa in the 5th spot. I'm into Chris Sale with the Braves. Cease would be less of a pick up now. I expect that this will be an interesting trade proposal to revisit in 6 months to see how the trade value of these players has changed.

From a Braves perspective, the only losses would be Elder and Shawver where Elder is pretty much a 4 at best and Shawver probably a 3. Benitez may eventually pan out but is so far away that he is unlikely to impact the Braves current run in any way other than through trade. Vines and Dodd are spare parts without much future for a competing team but possibly valuable for a rebuilding team. I like Kopech from a standpoint that he's like Strider with less command but not so much less that he's unplayable. I think if you get him and place him with Strider as a model, it may pay off. But, Cease is the key from a Braves POV. He gives you a guy with Cy Young stuff and a history of excellence with 2 years control which plays into the replacement of Fried (and possibly Morton and Sale) after 2024.
