Not at all. Based on our modeling, Hader's contract came in just a little above our fair value line. It's not a data point that will move the needle.
Acknowledging fully that your model helps correct for fanbase bias, I'm still going to opine that Clase's relative youth and intangibles make him worth closer to 105 AFV. 80 in surplus may have been a bit high to say, but combined with CLEFO having every reason (ownership and broadcast rights $ crunch) to value a bargain contract more than even the market does, I think this is around the surplus value Cleveland would demand. I think I'm more adding my subjective gloss to your thorough and more objective measures than I am disputing your valuation.
I don't think this deal would work for Cleveland anyways... I really do feel like Morel is the target for Cleveland since they will want a bit more volume of a return than this one
I'm sure Morel is a top target for Cleveland, and I'm not sure the Cubs would move PCA for really anyone. That said, I have a hard time picturing CLEFO passing on this package, considering they haven't had a true long term CF option in over a decade, and the chance to have a cornerstone CF is much rarer than a powerful corner OFer.
Honestly, from Cleveland's side, PCA is a good prospect but he doesn't fit what they really need... Morel plus a better SP prospect makes way more sense than PCA and a lesser SP prospect... They haven't been afraid to take volume deals if they get the player they want the most in the process...
