Brewers refuse this badly undervalue trade. Black is a good start, but Seymour is already 25 and still hasn't seen AAA and Arteaga is a lottery ticket.

This is a minor overpay according to the model and a difference of 2.7 is easily within the margin of error. Seymour will start 2024 in AAA and doesn't need to be on the 40 man until next year. Arteaga is raw, but he's also going to start 2024 as a 21 year old in AA and has several successful milb seasons under his belt.

The Brewers would want a much better package for Adames if they can't work out an extension with him. Seymour is a very low level 25 year old prospect no matter if he's in AAA or not. Arteaga hit .235/.299 at A level and doesn't project to be much more than minor league depth. Black is a decent propect, but not nearly enough for Adames.

I would be shocked if MIL extended Adames. What I've read on Arteaga generally projects him as a decent but not great starting MLB SS, with the upside for more if his hit tool improves, and he usually sits around #10 on SFG prospect lists. Calling him minor league depth is doing him a huge disservice

As a Giants fan I’d or ably say no, I mean I could say yes haha! I don’t feel the Giants are a Willy Adames away from being in the play off race, if they were closer then I’d pull the trigger here

I agree with you, but from the outside looking in it seems like SFG is trying to be competitive this year, so this deal is working under that assumption
