White Sox get rid of a long term expense in Benintendi (Braves use him as a 4th OF). WS get a solid utility infielder in Fletcher who's money goes away in a couple of years while Benintendi's goes on. WS get three SP with ML experience, some success, and at least are long term workable long relievers. Whole deal centers on how bad WS want B gone.

It would make for quite a powerful group of SP's. Fun idea. I'm not believing that the White Sox are soured on Benintendi so much that they'd combine him with Cease, diluting value. It's an entertains thought, but wholly unrealistic. I've read online that the White Sox have a high price for Cease and a couple potential trade partners seem to have moved on. Let's see what sort of season Benintendi has. Imagining that predictive models hold true for him, I can't come up with a team that would benefit by taking him. This trade proposal is something to think about but it's all dead ends for me.

Certainly centers around how badly the WS want to cut costs and rebuild. Elder is a legit innings eater #4/5 SP, Ynoa has shown flashes as a SP and looked to have turned the corner before he got hurt, and Vines is a LR guy who will have some value for a few years so it's not a complete salary dump trade. The cash coming back from the WS could be mitigated with a little more talent

But wouldn't the White Sox rather get more promising talent back for just Cease? Maybe hold on to Benintendi for 2024 and hope he can rebound. His value can only go up, right? I agree with you that it's all about the team's motivation to slash payroll. And if this is the first move in order to have the money to pay other players, then so be it. It's just not how successful teams like Baltimore, Houston and Atlanta. have gone about doing it. It would make more sense to me (and not a lot of sense) if the White Sox traded just Benintendi, that cash, and let's say 2 young arms of @ 9 Median Value for Fletcher. Keep Cease for another trade. I remain unable to imagine how this trade works for Atlanta.
