It has been reported that the Dodgers have some interest in Clase. So, let’s go shopping! This is an aggressive ask, but I think the Dodgers stacked farm system can take the hit. There are 3 players that can help Cleveland now, or in the very near future, in Vargas, Knack, and Frasso, and 3 future prospects in Liranzo, Kopp, and Martin. Vargas is a bit of an enigma. His minor league stats say future star, but his MLB debut season was dreadful. I think he can still be a very good MLB player. Although LH he hits lefties well, and fits Cleveland’s low K% profile. He would start at 2B, Gimenez slides to SS. Keep one other MIF’er as utility and trade off the excess for outfield help. Knack and Frasso can both help soon, Knack can slot in immediately as a #4 starter, and Frasso can start at AAA, and be promoted when ready. The younger players can fill in needed depth in the organization. Liranzo is a young offensive minded catcher, and Koop and Martin are potential mid to TOR starters. Although an unusual 6 for 1 trade, Clase fills a much needed role for a team that clearly is all in, and his very team friendly contract is an added benefit.

Oh oh, I’m hearing rumblings that it looks like the Dodgers are trading for Clase and signing Hader, Ho, Ho,Ho,

temporary account

I don't see Cleveland moving Gimenez off of 2B moving his Platinum Glove. Why not just trade for an outfielder and let Rocchio and Arias fight for SS. Despite the need in the outfield, Cleveland's front office has not found a trade for an outfielder using our excess. If Vargas can transition to the outfield, that would help.

Since SS is the most important defensive position I would prefer the best defensive player play there, and Gimenez is a SS and the best defensive player. That being said Vargas has played some left, so if Rocchio can grab the SS job I’m fine with that setup. I don’t get the belief that Arias will ever be able to hit enough to stay in the majors. Maybe as a utility guy but not a starter. And Cleveland has not found a trade for ANYONE so you absolutely have a point. Thanks for commenting.
