1Philadelphia is clearly in a win now situation, and the competition in the NL is ridiculously strong. Painter is an amazing prospect but, will not pitch in 2024, likely limited in 2025, and his arm is now a risk, but realistically low risk. In Clase Philadelphia gets their needed high end closer, signed to an extremely team friendly contract. Cleveland hopefully has a healthy Painter available in 2025+ (during what I see as a more realistic contention window). Marchan can be a viable backup catcher and Kirkering adds bullpen depth. Hopefully a trade that satisfies the needs of both teams.
