2Following from the previous trade, assuming the dodgers acquire Yama and Hader the only "weakish" positions would be 3b and 2b. The solution to 2b I theorized was Kim, as while there are already many bats a premium defensive player could be useful. To solve the 3b problem we look at the Rays, who the dodgers consistently trade with. In return for padres, who has years of control (just in time for the 6th Ohtani year luxury tax reset) the Dodgers give up a significant portion of their farm with top prospects plus cost-controlled replacements with significant projected production and the ability to replace the player at 3b. Rays also recieve one of the top dodger pitching prospects to work their "Tampa pitching lab" magic on. This would make the Dodger lineup,, in return for a decent portion of the farm (which can be refilled over 5 years before the start of the second phase of the Ohtani dodgers) Ohtani,, Freeman, Betts, Kim, Paredes... Baseball porn right there,
Rays would probably reject this trade. They won't have any interest in paying Muncy $11MM per year, and the positions that Muncy and Vargas play are about as stacked as they can be with the Rays.
