1Trade contingent on signing Kim to a 5 year extension, planned once dodgers acquire Yamamoto and Hader. Idea is that a large lux. tax bill is due THIS year but next year around 50-70 mil comes off the books, so lock up half a core for 5 year (for another tax reset in year 6) and half the core for 10 years (the duration of the Ohtani dodgers). Kim in 5 years can be resigned or come off the books depending on performance. Padres pay 75% of the contract this years to help dodgers get under Cohen tax. In return they get a 2b replacement under cost control for the next 6 years (great for a team trying to shed payroll) and in return for the salary get a pitching prospect close to being major-ready, which could help ease Snell's likely departure.
