2I could see this happening. The Rays may want to give up their ace for a young offensive piece to replace Paredes. The Rays have a decent rotation with Eflin, Pepiot, and Civale. Their bullpen is strong as well, with Fairbanks, Poche, Armstrong, and Kittredge.
If they trade Paredes, which they might, it will be because Caminero or Mead takes over 3b, not an established MLBer. I also don't see the Rays trading McClanahan at the nadir of his value. They bring in TJ recipients to rehab, not trade them away.
