The Red Sox get 2 rentals at positions of great need. They ship out a bunch of nice depth to have when you're a contender, but not really needed when you're trying to get those bigger pieces to push you more towards that area. The Padres get younger at 2B which should help them considering all of the money they have spent elsewhere. Walter would help them as a nice depth guy/long reliever. The Brewers meanwhile get Houck who should slot into their rotation. He's flashed potential as a starter but not nearly enough for the Sox who need someone with more consistency in the rotation. Valdez looks to be a nice depth option/spot starter for stretches and would help the Brewers in their infield. Meidroth meanwhile is kind of a lottery throw in. Seems to profile more of a Yorke type with a hit first approach.

Burnes & Kim are nice but for me 👎, I think the SP acquisition will be Jordan Montgomery, I think the team might just go with in house options for two bullpen possible acquisitions but might be looking to the trade market or free agents for a LHRP (I’d love to see it be Hader), I think the team would like to find a RH bench bat that can play 1B/3B but might elect to just go with Dalbec, I think Rafaela makes the team out of spring training and plays 2B/SS/CF but sees most of his time at 2B. I also could see a trade of Catcher Reese McGuire because I think Catching prospect Kyle Teel could be kicking down the door by the end of the year so maybe a deadline deal is more likely but if a team was to step up and offer up a player that Breslow and company like I think he could be moved before the season starts. To me there seems to be a very familiar “Bloom” in the air in Boston. I think Breslow has his marching orders and they’re the same for him as they were for Bloom. Nothing has changed in Boston and I expect the status quo to continue with Breslow playing around with the edges of the active and 40 man roster. There’s still plenty of time but I had higher hopes for the Red Sox this off season then the path they’re currently on. The only thing that has changed in Boston is the name on the door to the President of Baseball Operations office. 😔😔😔😔😔 I’d love to hear from other fans on how they view the state of the Red Sox currently.

Brewers say no thanks. If Houck didn't fit well with the Red Sox, he sure won't fit well as a starter in Milwaukee. The other two guys are utility types. The pitching is way too weak for the Brewers to consider trading Burnes.

Yeah it's tough to know what the Brewers would be looking for in a return for Burnes. Houck is just the kind of guy who seems like he's a couple tweaks away from unlocking something. A team that knows how to unlock pitching could be intrigued by that kind of guy. Also tough to make deals on here where it feels like it could legitimately happen. The values can be wonky in that regard. Good feedback though. Thanks!

I had posted in a different thread that if Boston wants Burnes I'm sure Brewers would ask for Casas. He fills a need and at the kind of cost where the Brewers could sign a good free agent that would fill another need. Yes Jmont1, probably pitching. (-: I know there would be more to the trade of course the Red Sox may want a Burnes contract extension as part of the trade.
