4Think this deal would only be worth it to the Red Sox if they were able to extend Burnes. Pivetta for Adames is essentially a rental swap. Houck, to me, is just a potential high leverage reliever, but there could be more to unlock with him. Yorke is a bat first 2nd baseman with questions on defense. Not a guy the Sox should be looking to keep for their next core I think.
The Brewers would refuse this immediately. Houck is a LRP, not a starter. Pivetta is a rental and Yorke is a 2B only with a weak glove.
Again, depends on how the Brewers view those kinds of players. They may see something in Houck that the Red Sox just don't. Maybe they like Yorke's hit profile. Pivetta would just be a stand in for Burnes this year so there is value in that. If they're not going to extend Adames and Burnes, getting controllable players for multiple years, 6 in the case of Yorke, could be very valuable to them. It's definitely not the strongest offer, and would likely get rejected I agree. It's sometimes tough to make the real life values match with what they're perceived to be on here sometimes. Appreciate the feedback though. Thanks!
I'm looking at this trade a little differently. I can see Pivetta and Houck being a part of a return for Burnes. But that leaves Adames for Yorke and that won't fly. I think if the Brewers are going to be pretty sure the Red Sox can extend Burnes, then the Brewers ask for Casas and the trade starts there. If Boston wants Adames then I can see something like Pivetta and Houck coming to Milwaukee.
