3Brewers once again tell the Red Sox no. Even if the Brewers were giving up on 2024 & 2025 they wouldn't do this. Milwaukee doesn't want position players as the major part of a trade for pitching. They don't want Drohan who was terrible in AAA. Gonzalez has control issues too. The Brewers have to get pitching for Burnes.
If the Red Sox are willing to trade Casas in a trade for Burnes, I'm sure the Brewers would be very interested. Other players involved in the trade could be worked out. Casas is a great fit for Milwaukee and fills a need. Brewers can fill their pitching needs by trading from their outfield surplus or possibly trading Adames if an extension can't be worked out.
I don't know that I could disagree with this sentiment more. The Brewers need offense, desperately. The closest the Brewers have gotten to a World Series was with Jhoulys Chacin as their ace, Wade Miley as the #2, and an unheralded rookie Brandon Woodruff as #3. Preventing runs will not be a problem in Milwaukee. Scoring them is.
